About Contemporary Fusion
The company
Contemporary Fusion was founded in late 2008 by David Thorne, becoming a limited company in early 2009. It has quickly built up a reputation for helping in all aspects of IT for startup companies and social communities in and around the Cambridgeshire and Greater London area.
Contemporary Fusion aims to be more than just a "One stop shop" for IT support. It aims to provide you with a service that makes your IT investments work for you. These can range from your company's website, through to ensuring all your desktops are running smoothly, allowing you to concentrate on your business. Whether you want to create a web presence for the first time, expand your existing web presence, or just have a simple IT sanity check, we will help you make the most of your IT needs, with the aim of making IT work for you.
During 2010 the company worked on building up the development part of the business, whilst retaining strong links with systems administration. Contemporary Fusion Computer Services Limited now focuses on website and mobile application development, using a combination of Drupal, Wordpress, PHP frameworks such as Kohana and Zend as well as Objective-C++ for iPhone and Java for Android applications. It still maintains a strong interest in systems administration with clients in a number of sectors, including digital media agencies. Using a variety of industry recognised techniques our clients are able to take advantage of our skills in system design and development. This ensures the system's running mission critical services such as e-commerce websites are available when the client needs them most.
Director's biography
David Thorne is the managing director of Contemporary Fusion. Having been around computers all his life, IT seemed a good direction for his career. Studying Computer Science at Anglia Ruskin in Cambridge UK, he developed a passion for developing, systems administration and many things open source.
After university he went on to develop a career in many aspects of computing, including software and website development, IT support and systems administration. He decided to specialise in all things Linux, and as such went for his RHCE in 2006. After working as a dedicated systems administrator for a digital media agency, and having worked in a multi operating system environment for most of his working life, David felt he had a good overview of operating systems and IT needs of small to medium sized business. He decided to found Contemporary Fusion Computer Services Limited to specialise in all things based in systems administration
During this time he also developed a good skill set in developing websites for small to medium businesses in a number of platforms including Drupal, Wordpress and ModX. He has also used the Kohana framework a number of times. In late 2010 David decided the time was right to focus the company's main efforts on building websites, whilst allowing himself to maintain a strong interest in the security and systems maintenance of small to medium sized businesses networks too.
